These Guest Information, Rules and Policies are intended to help ensure the campground remains safe, enjoyable, and well maintained for all guests. By entering or staying at the campground, guests and visitors agree to comply with these Guest Information, Rules and Policies.

 

BOOKINGS & ADMINISTRATION

ACCOMMODATION BOND A bond may be required, and will be refunded after inspection for any damage, loss, or breakages. Bond refunds are made by bank transfer only.
CANCELLATIONS All cancellations must be submitted in writing. Any overseas bank charges or currency conversion fees are the responsibility of the guest. PEAK SEASON notice: 21 days or more notice – Full refund less administration fee. 6 – 20 days’ notice = 50% refund less administration fee. 5 days or less – No refund. NON-PEAK SEASON notice: Deposits are refundable if at least 5 days written notice is provided.
CHECK-INS & CHECK-OUTS Check-in time is from 2.00 pm, and check-out time is by 10.00 am, unless prior arrangements have been made with Management. Late departure fees may apply.
OFFICE / SHOP HOURS Office hours are displayed on the Office window and may vary according to the season or Management’s discretion.
PAYMENT DETAILS Account Name: Whangaruru Beachfront Camp (2016) Ltd. Account Number: 06-0293-0289695-00.Use the Booking Number as the reference and your Surname as the code. If paying for multiple bookings in one transaction, use your Surname as the reference and the number of bookings as the code. International payments can be made by SWIFT transfer. Please contact the Office for international banking details.
PEAK SEASON (20 December – 7 February) A 50% deposit is required to secure all bookings. Bookings may be cancelled if payment is not received. All campers and additional guests must check in through the Office before entering the campground, and all outstanding balances must be paid on arrival. Additional guests are subject to availability. A minimum stay of two nights for two adults applies. Parking on vacant campsites incurs the applicable minimum stay charge. No scheduled check-ins or check-outs are available on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day.
REFUNDS & CHANGES Charges apply for the dates confirmed in your booking. Changes to booking dates are subject to availability and may incur additional charges. No refunds, credits, or discounts will be given for late arrivals, early departures, no-shows, unused nights, or adverse weather conditions that do not prevent the Camp from providing the booked accommodation. Where permitted by law, approved refunds are subject to a $20.00 administration fee. Nothing in this policy limits any rights or remedies available under New Zealand law.

 

DURING YOUR STAY

BBQ / PICNIC AREA Bring your own barbecue. Please leave the area clean after use. Use official Whangārei District Council rubbish bags and place recyclables in the correct bins. Picnic tables must not be moved.
BICYCLES / SCOOTERS No riding after dark, through occupied campsites, on stairways or decks, or within camp facilities.
CAMP BOUNDARIES Please remain within the designated campground boundaries. Beyond these boundaries is private property and areas that may present water or other safety hazards.
CAR, BOAT PARKING & SITE REQUIREMENTS Motels and Cabins include one vehicle park. Do not park on the beachfront, roadways, driveways, laneways, or at the dump station. Boats must fit within your campsite or be parked in the designated boat parking area (subject to availability). Additional vehicle parking, subject to availability, is $5.00 per night. All vehicles, tents, ropes, and equipment must remain within your allocated site.
CHILDREN Children must be supervised, particularly near the water, in camp facilities, and around moving vehicles.
CONDUCT & BEHAVIOUR Quiet hours are from 10.00 pm to 7.00 am. Excessive drinking, parties, loud music, offensive language, and the display of gang patches or insignia are not allowed. Please treat other guests and staff with courtesy and respect at all times.
GUEST PRIVACY To protect guest privacy and security, staff cannot show guest names, site numbers, or accommodation details to visitors. Please arrange to meet your visitors directly.
PETS Pets are not allowed between 10 December and 10 February. Outside these dates, pets must remain on a lead at all times and are not allowed inside any accommodation or camp facilities. Owners must clean up after their pets.
PLAYGROUNDS The playground is for young children and is open daily between 8.00 am and 8.00 pm. Children must be supervised.
 RECYCLING Please flatten all cardboard boxes and use the correct recycling bins for glass, plastic bottles and containers, and cans. No rubbish or plastic bags are to be placed in the recycling area.
RUBBISH All rubbish must be placed in official Whangārei District Council rubbish bags or bags with an official Council rubbish sticker attached. Fish frames, seafood shells, and bait must not be placed in camp rubbish bins or on the grounds within the camp. Please dispose of them responsibly offshore.
VISITORS All visitors must report to the Office on arrival and pay the applicable $5.00 amenity fee. Visitor hours are 9.00 am to 6.00 pm.
WI-FI Wi-Fi is available throughout the campground; however, some areas may experience limited coverage. The strongest signal is around the camp kitchen. Weather conditions, power outages, and the number of connected devices may affect the service.

 

SAFETY

CAMPSITE ELECTRICAL SAFETY All caravans and campervans must display a current Electrical Warrant of Fitness (EWOF) and/or Certificate of Fitness (COF), where applicable. Only approved power leads fitted with RCD protection may be used. Household plugs or adaptors must not be connected to campsite power outlets.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING Charging electric vehicles from the accommodation or campsite power outlets is not allowed.
FIRE SAFETY Open fires are prohibited unless permitted under current local fire restrictions and approved by Management. Guests must not tamper with, cover, disable, or remove smoke alarms or other fire safety equipment. In the event of an uncontrolled fire, dial 111 immediately.
FIRST AID In an emergency, dial 111. Basic first aid supplies and a defibrillator (AED) are available from the Office. Camp address: 45 Ohawini Road, Whangaruru, Northland.
HOSES, FITTINGS & CALIFONTS Self-contained vehicles must supply their own hoses and fittings. Camp fittings must not be removed from taps. Please ensure taps are turned off after use.
SMOKING, VAPING, E-CIGARETTES & DRUGS Smoking, vaping, and the use of e-cigarettes are not permitted inside any accommodation, or any other enclosed Camp facilities. Guests wishing to smoke or vape must do so outdoors and dispose of cigarette butts and vaping waste responsibly. Guests must not tamper with, cover, disable, or remove smoke alarms or any other fire safety equipment. The use, possession, manufacture, or distribution of illegal drugs or controlled substances is strictly prohibited anywhere on the Camp property.
SPEED LIMIT The speed limit throughout the campground is 5 km/h (walking pace) for all vehicles.
TSUNAMI EVACUATIONS If a tsunami warning is issued, move immediately to higher ground and as far inland as possible. Take essential emergency supplies and your pets if it is safe to do so. Do not drive along coastal roads unless directed by emergency services.
WATER USAGE & SHOWERS Our water supply comes from storage tanks, and hot water is provided by cylinders to serve the entire campground. Please help conserve water. Filling swimming pools, washing vehicles, and unnecessary water use is not permitted. The boat wash is for rinsing salt water from boats only. Please keep shower use reasonable so the hot water stays unmetered.

 

FACILITIES & SERVICES

CAMP FACILITIES Please leave the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry clean after use, conserve water wherever possible, and dispose of rubbish correctly. The kitchen and laundry are locked between 10.00 pm and 6.30 am. The last person leaving any facility must switch off the lights and ensure all doors are securely closed.
DUMP STATION Use the small inlet for grey water (dishwashing and shower water) and the large opening for black water (toilet waste). Do not dispose of wipes, nappies, sanitary products, or other solid waste items. Please rinse the area after use and close the lid.
KAYAK & PADDLEBOARD HIRE An adult must complete and sign an indemnity form before hire. Life jackets are supplied and must be worn at all times. Equipment must be returned clean and undamaged. Hirers are responsible for equipment during the hire period.
LAUNDRY ROOM The washing machines and one dryer operate using two $2.00 coins. The remaining dryers require a $4.00 token, available from the Office. Please limit use to one machine if others are waiting.

 

LEGAL INFORMATION

DAMAGE & BREAKAGES Guests are responsible for any damage, loss, breakages, or excessive cleaning required as a result of their actions, or those of their children, visitors, or pets during their stay. The cost of repair, replacement, or additional cleaning may be charged where appropriate.
LIABILITY DISCLAIMER Whangaruru Beachfront Camp (2016) Ltd accepts no responsibility for the loss, theft, or damage to vehicles, boats, equipment, or personal belongings, except where liability cannot be excluded under New Zealand law. Guests are responsible for their own property.
MANAGEMENT’S RIGHT TO REFUSE ENTRY OR TERMINATE A STAY Management reserves the right to refuse entry or require any guest or visitor to leave the campground, without refund where permitted by law, if they fail to comply with these Camp Rules, behave in a manner that is unsafe, abusive, disruptive, threatening, or illegal, or cause unreasonable disturbance to other guests or staff.
