Facilities Available to Our Campers

Barbecue / Picnic Area
A covered picnic area with tables and seating is available on a first come, first served basis. Bring your own barbecue and table covers.

Bathrooms
Both male and female bathrooms include hot showers (not metered) and flushing toilets. Handtowels are not provided but hand dryers are.

Boat Wash
Is available for rinsing the salt water from boats and trailers only. As the campground operates on tank water, this is not a car wash facility.

Camp Kitchen
Has fridges, freezers, convection ovens, double hotplates, microwaves, toasters, electric jugs for guests to use. Campers will need to bring their own cooking utensils, crockery, cutlery, dishwashing liquid and tea towels.

Camp Office / Shop
Stocks a range of basic supplies including ice creams, cold drinks, snacks, party ice, salt ice, bait, tinned and packet foods, milk, bread, hardware and personal items, medical supplies, cleaning products, reading glasses, sunglasses, and Whangaruru Beachfront Camp caps and bucket hats.
The Oakura Bay Store – “over the hill and around the corner” – is well stocked with groceries, petrol, diesel, and gas services.

Caravan Storage
Short and long-term caravan storage is available. Please enquire at the office for pricing and conditions.

Coffee & Food
Haz Beanz Coffee serves barista coffee, seasonal frappes, and alternative milk options. Tony’s Diner operates during the summer season and long weekends, (weather / occupancy dependent) serving gourmet burgers, fries and more.
You can also visit Skips Fish & Chips, which is also “over the hill”, for takeaways, fresh cream donuts, and baked bread on selected weekends.

Dump Station
The Dump Station accepts black water (toilet waste = rectangle section) and grey water (dish and shower water = round section) only. Please don’t put wipes, paper towels, sanitary items, or nappies in the system. Charges apply for non-campers using the Dump Station or filling water tanks.

First Aid & Emergencies
A first aid kit and defibrillator are available at the office for minor injuries. In an emergency, call 111 first. Then contact the Whangaruru First Responders on 021 159 1760, who may arrive sooner than emergency services.

Filleting Station                                                                                      Is available for campers to use to clean their fish. Please rinse the area after use and ensure all fish scraps and seafood shells are taken back out to sea – not placed in rubbish bins or bags, thrown into the creek, or left on the beach.
